Suisse Orientale Lipperswil

I am highly motivated and for the Suisse Orientale in Lipperswil and especially for me it is that my sister Gianna has got a spot on the starting grid and is competing in the practice round with me.

On the practice round we try out different variations of how we could play the individual holes.

We help each other and evaluate where we can take which risk. We both get along very well with the course and are optimistic for the coming tournament days.

Recovery is important tonight because we have to play 18 holes twice tomorrow.

Well recovered I start the first of the two Saturday rounds. I don’t make any big mistakes for a long time and play a few birdies and after 15 holes I’m already 5 under Par and should be positioned well in the tournament.

On holes 16 and 18 I miss the green by a few yards and play a bogey which throws me back to a total of 3 under par. A little disappointed with the last holes but so far pleased, I am already preparing for the second 18 holes.

With a little too much pasta in my stomach, I don’t start very well in the afternoon round, but with good putts I can still play my pars. After 3 saved pars, three birdies in a row are following which I only made due to my strong shortgame. Unfortunately, I miss the tee shot on the 17th hole, which finally lands in the water and lets me finish the hole with a double bogey.

The rest of the round I struggle with my distance control and miss some greens so that I have to accept the one or the other bogey. I finish the second round with a score of PAR and with a total of 3 under PAR after two rounds I am only in 16th position and extremely exhausted from the 10+ hours on the golf course.

The last round is coming up and I have to catch up some strokes. I play very solid throughout the round. I don’t have my driver under control today, but still somehow hit the fairways and avoid the unnecessary risk. With good approaches I get a totally 7 birdies and only have to accept one unnecessary bogey.

With an 8 meter birdie on hole 18, I finish the tournament with a total of 9 under Par and become the third best amateur of the tournament.
